Activist Morara Kebaso has announced that he is eying the country’s top seat.

Kebaso, in a statement on social media on Monday, November 18, 2024, announced that he would be vying for president.

The young politician says he will be banking on the Kenyan youth to win the top seat.

“I will run for president of the Republic of Kenya. My tribe is the youth of Kenya,” he stated.

He joins a couple of politicians who are eying the presidency in 2027 including Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper Party, Raila Odinga of ODM, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and the incumbent William Ruto.

Kebaso faults senior politicians

This comes days after Kebaso alleged a plot by major political parties to swallow all Gen Z leaders.

Kebaso in a statement shared via his X account on Thursday, November 14, 2024, claimed that a serious concerted effort is going on to swallow the Gen Z leaders into mainstream political parties.

According to him, the plan is aimed at teaching the said Gen Z leaders to the old corrupt style of politics.

However, Kebaso vowed that he would not be swayed by the move, assuring his supporters that he has no intentions of joining the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) or the Wiper Democratic Movement.

He went ahead to reveal that he had formed his  Injection of National Justice, Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) party after anticipating the plan to swallow the Gen Zs and kill their movement.

“There is a very serious concerted effort to swallow all GenZ leaders into mainstream political parties to teach them the old corrupt style of politics. That is why we formed the INJECT Party. We will chart our own path. I will not join UDA or ODM or WIPER their time is over. It is our time now. Consistency to the end,” he stated.

His counterpart activist Kasmuel McOure who was part of the Gen Z protests joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party recently, revealing plans to vie for an elective post in coming elections.

In a statement after a meeting with party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel said the party is now out to revive youth and student leagues across the country.

“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty – the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!

“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair @gladyswanga, for your faith and for hosting us this weekend.”
