Slain protester
According to the human rights activist Boniface Mwangi, the 24-year-old slain protester identified as Rex Kanyike succumbed to gunshot wounds on Thursday, June 20, 2024 evening in Nairobi County.
Boniface Mwangi says, his body has been moved to the City mortuary adding that since it’s a homicide the police have to book the body in a public mortuary.
I have met with Rex’s mum, and we are on our way to City Mortuary. Since it’s a homicide, the police have said the body has to be booked in a public mortuary. After the post mortem, we shall move Rex. Her name is Gillian Munyao, and a killer cop just shattered her life forever. https://t.co/zYtyK6oB21 pic.twitter.com/HLYWdkFMmc

In Rex Kanyike’s pocket were his Identification Card, and phone. He wasn’t armed. He knew that Kenya Police harasses any young person who walks around without an ID. After the police shot him, his friend Alex, asked the police to help carry him, they told him “Wacha akufe!” pic.twitter.com/gXYQmbutJr
