8-hour blackout to affect 5 counties on Wednesday

Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced an eight-hour blackout which will affect parts of five counties on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

The power outage, occasioned by routine maintenance, will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in most parts listed by the utility firm.

Among the counties to be partially affected include Kiambu, Machakos, Elgeyo Marakwet, Bungoma and Kwale.

In Kiambu County, areas around Kwaheri Road, Runda Mhasibu and Wadi Degla will be affected

Also, part of Thindigua, Paradise Lost, Ronda Palms, Citam, Evergreen and adjacent customers will be affected.

Areas around Kibubuti in Raini, Boma Road and adjacent customers will experience blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Machakos, areas that will be affected include the Industrial Area, Muthini Estate, Civil Servant’s Estate, Romani and adjacent customers.

In Elgoyo Marakwet, Kiptabus and Chesitek areas will be affected, touching Kiptabos Poad, Chesitek, Kibargoyet Primary School, Kiptabos Catholic and adjacent customers.

In Bungoma, areas around Hongera Millers, Pan Africa Chemicals and Butali Sugar will be affected.

Other parts include Kenol Kobil, Power Gas, Chebwai Adventist, Matete Market, Chimoi Market, Lwandeti and adjacent customers.

In Kwale, the areas which will experience blackout on Wednesday include Carrefour, Swahili Beach, Kaskazi, Bazaar, Diani Shopping Center, Watatu Watano, Chandarana, Kivulini, Ocean Beach Resort, Diani Marines, Forty Thieves, Tandoori, Manyatta, Msitu Kwetu, Pavillion, Ocean Beach Safaris, Baobab, Nomad and adjacent customers.
