Margaret Nyakang’o was on Wednesday sworn in as the second Controller of Budget (CoB) for a term of 8 years replacing Agnes Odhiambo whose term ended on August 27.

Speaking on Wednesday at the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Justice David Maraga urged the newly-appointed CoB to be vigilant and ensure that taxpayers funds are spent prudently.

“You have a tough responsibility to ensure that all government institution across board have spent taxpayers in a transparent manner. It’s a difficult task and every Kenyan is watching you”, said CJ Maraga.

National Assembly’s Finance Committee vetted her last week, saying in their report that she is well-suited for the job.

Members of Parliament approved her nomination on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
