Body of an unidentified middle-aged man was, on Thursday, January 6, discovered inside a maize farm in Mutithi village near Kianjiru shopping centre, Gîchûgû Constituency in Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the unfortunate incident, Kirinyaga East Subcounty Police Commander Antony Mbogo said that the body had severe head injuries as well as a severed hand.

“An unidentified body of an African male about 35 years old was found at Mutithi area in Gîchûgû constituency with a severed left hand and injuries on the head in a maize plantation,” Mbogo told K24 Digital.

Mbogo said that the unidentified man might have been murdered by a gang of unknown people who later moved the body to the maize plantation in that area.

“The deceased was murdered elsewhere and dumped in the area,” he said.

The body of the unidentified man was later moved to Kerugoya Level 4 hospital awaiting postmortem.

The police boss also said that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into the matter.

“Body has been taken to Kerugoya morgue as investigations into the matter kick off,” Mbogo said.
