Leaders from West Pokot County have decried the move by the school heads to send away students over fee arrears saying it has led to multitudes of them loitering in major towns in the county.

Led by Masol nominated MCA Grace Rengei, the leaders said the move had led to an increase of cases of children who are sexually violated by sex pests roaming around the streets of Makutano, Kapenguria and Chepareria.

“These children especially girls are seen loitering the streets of major towns in our county with majority of them being sexually assaulted by sex perverts,” she said.

Rengei has called upon the relevant authorities to explore other avenues to reach the parents of the affected students rather than sending them home.

“Many chools in this area are girl schools thus the idea of sending them to collect fee a few days after they were on half term is tantamount to allowing them to indulge in bad behaviors,” she added.
