Kenya Meteorological Department has released a two-day weather forecast for the Nairobi Metropolitan region.
The weatherman, through a statement shared on X, announced the forecast for Monday, July 8, 2024, from 9am to Tuesday, July 9, 2024, 9am.
Nairobi Metropolis
In the statement, the weatherman told the residents of Nairobi Metropolis to prepare for light to moderate rain over some parts of the region.
“Check out the Cumulative Rainfall Forecast map for Nairobi Metropolis for Monday, 0900Hrs, 8th July 2024, to Tuesday, 0900Hrs, 9th July 2024! Prepare for light to moderate rain over some parts of the metropolitan region. Some areas may experience heavy rain,” the statement reads.

Westlands, Dagoretti South, Dagoretti North, Embakasi South, Kibra, Lang’ata, and Makadara are some of the areas expected to receive rainfall ranging from 20 to 50 mm.
Kasarani, Embakasi East, Kamkunji, Embakasi North, Mathare, Embakasi Central, Starehe, Roysambu, and Ruaraka are some of the areas that will receive rainfall ranging from 2 to 20 mm.
Murang’a and Kirinyaga Counties are also areas forecasted to receive moderate rain over the next two days.
Murang’a, Mathioya, Kahuro, and Kigumo areas are expected to receive rainfall ranging from 20 to 50 mm.
Kiharu, Kangema, Ithanga, Kandara, Gatanga and Maragwa areas will receive rainfall ranging from 2 to 20 mm in the next two days.
Weatherman’s 5-day forecast
In a general 5-day forecast, the weatherman says rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.
Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.
The weatherman in the 5-day forecast also says strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast and North-eastern Kenya.
