Wambugu demands answers from Gachagua over DCP launch money
By David Nthua, September 19, 2025Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu, on Friday, September 19, 2025, called on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to be honest with Kenyans about the much-hyped Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) launch.
Posting through his Facebook page, Wambugu expressed concern that Gachagua has been misleading Kenyans on various issues.
“Ati rather than dealing with the by-elections, the by-elections are dealing with him.

“Anyway, let’s see whether he will explain to us this weekend why he never launched the party, despite collecting money to do it.
“Gachagua cut short his Yues tour to deal with the by-elections. So which particular by-election is he actually dealing with?” Wambugu posted. “Let’s just agree that Yues went bad. Hizi stori zingine za byelections ni stori za Jaba tu,” Ngunjiri Wambugu wrote on Facebook.
Questions on the DCP launch
Wambugu, who was once an ally of Gachagua, raised eyebrows over the continued delays in launching the party despite the hype and resources mobilised for the event.
He also suggested that Gachagua’s sudden return from the United States to oversee mini-polls preparations has left many Kenyans puzzled about his priorities after he went mute over the issue.
“Gachagua cut short his US tour to come deal with the by-elections, yet up-to-date, Kenyans are still waiting for his word on which by-election he was actually focusing on,” Wambugu said.

The MP urged Gachagua to address the public directly and clarify the reasons behind the aborted DCP launch.
Wambugu’s remarks come amid speculation and social media chatter suggesting that the party launch was postponed due to internal disagreements or logistical challenges.
Call for transparency
Wambugu’s public statements have intensified scrutiny on Gachagua’s political activities, with party supporters and Kenyans alike demanding accountability.

Many are now questioning whether the delays have affected the party’s credibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While Gachagua has not yet responded to Wambugu’s challenge, political watchers anticipate that the former Deputy President may release an official statement or hold a press briefing to explain the stalled DCP launch and his current focus on the by-elections.
Wambugu’s challenge highlights growing frustration among Kenyans who have been following the DCP saga and are eager for clarity from one of Mt Kenya’s most prominent political figures.
