Julius Ondijo Owino, alias Maji Maji who is famed for his popular political song, Unbwogable has joined politics.

According to a post across his social media pages, Maji Maji is set to contest for Seme parliamentary seat in the August 9 general elections.

The creative promises to address key issues in Seme which include title deeds, water, jobs, bursary and food.

Maji Maji will contest for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket under the Azimio la Umoja Movement.

“We the people of Seme can list a lot of development challenges that need fixing. Time and again, this has turned out to be a false promise. Seme people are angry. But what makes us angry the most, is the leadership

“A leadership that talks down to us, a leadership that prescribes what’s good for us, a leadership whose gates are open for a few, a leadership that doesn’t consider and capture the energies of the young, a leadership that is caught up in intellectual hubris,” he wrote in part.

Maji Maji also declared his support for ODM leader Raila Odinga who will be contesting for the presidency for the fifth time, noting that he would go out of his way to ensure the former Prime Minister wins the election.

“Twenty years ago I supported Baba and Kibaki as an artiste with a song that inspired the nation. This time, I will support Baba as an active soldier on the ground.

“For Baba to fulfil his mission to change Kenya, we the people must choose grassroots leaders who share his vision for change,” he added.

Maji Maji joins a long list of creatives that have declared interest in various political seats in the forthcoming elections.
