Two Embu ‘brothers whose demise is a mystery’ jumped out of moving vehicle, died on the spot – police

Two prisoners died after attempting to escape from custody while in a police vehicle that was on its way to pick another prisoner at Karau Police Post in Embu County.

The incident happened on Monday, August 2.

The tragic incident occurred along Kiriare-Buvori road opposite Jesus Christ Fire Ministry Church in the aforementioned county.

According to a police occurrence book (OB) filed at Manyatta Police Station, the two were booked as prisoners aged about 25-years-old.

The OB report indicates that the two died on the spot since their bodies were discovered on the road just 35 meters apart.

“It happened that two unknown prisoners, names unknown, of about 25years of age opened the police vehicle left side and jumped out without being noticed 35metres apart both dying on the spot the vehicle proceeded to Karau and later Manyatta police station,” reads the OB report.

The two were discovered missing after security officers conducted a headcount upon reaching Manyatta Police Station.

“It was realized that two prisoners were missing search was conducted and the bodies of the two were found at the scene,” the OB report added.

The bodies of the two have been taken to Embu Level 5 Morgue awaiting autopsy.
