A 36-year-old man from Matharau slums in Thika is nursing serious burn wounds after his wife allegedly poured hot water on his private parts, thighs and the back.

Anthony Musyoka and his wife Mawia Mwangangi are said to have clashed over domestic issues on Monday when the latter reportedly attacked her husband.

Neighbours apprehended the woman and handed her over to police, while Musyoka was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital and later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital where he is admitted.

A neighbour who did not wish to be identified said the mother of four had been accusing her husband of having extra-marital affairs and neglecting his responsibilities.

When an argument arose on Monday morning, Mwangagngi is said to have grabbed boiling water and poured it on her husband.

Police are investigating the incident.
