A local primary school in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County is mourning the death of their school watchman, who was killed by unknown people and school property of unknown value stolen.

The middle-aged man was guarding Cherendio Primary School in Ngachi sub-location, Cheptais Sub- County of Mt  Elgon Constituency when the thugs struck.

His body was discovered by pupils while reporting to school on Wednesday morning.

According to the pupils, the body was lying in a pool of blood within the school compound with injuries on the head, neck and legs. Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased was hit using a blunt object on the head.

“I was shocked after I came across the body of our security officer brutally murdered and dumped in front of one of the classrooms,” a pupil said.

Confirming the incident, Cheptais Sub-County Deputy Police Commander Benjamin Wambua condemned the act.

Wambua said that police have launched investigations that will lead to the arrest of the killers and establish the value of the stolen property.

He said the body has been taken to Bungoma Referral hospital mortuary.
