Sudi to Gachagua: Stop hiding, face me in Kenya
By Aloys Michael, August 14, 2025Kapsaret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has fired back at Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party leader Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of fleeing from confrontation and stoking tribal tensions back home.
The remarks come shortly after Gachagua updated that he will cut short his US tour to join the DCP party in preparations for the upcoming by-elections.
In a statement on his X account on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Sudi mocked Gachagua’s decision to cut short his U.S. tour to return to Kenya ahead of the upcoming by-elections. Sudi claimed Gachagua was avoiding direct political engagement and instead choosing to incite division.
“The moment I challenged you to a one-on-one showdown, you chickened out and are fleeing back home to cause chaos among peace-loving Kenyans,” Sudi wrote.
The MP has questioned Gachagua’s courage and leadership.
“Come on, Mr Tribal Chief, step up and show some courage,” the statement read.

Gachagua’s return
Gachagua is set to return to Kenya earlier than planned, cutting short his US tour to help his party prepare for the upcoming by-elections.
In a statement shared on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Gachagua said his trip to the United States had been both successful and fulfilling, highlighting key engagements with Kenyans in the diaspora. However, he announced a sudden change of plans due to pressing political obligations back home.
“I had a very successful and fulfilling visit to the United States of America with serious engagements with Kenyans in the Diaspora,” the statement read.
“I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining States since I need to get back home to join our party, @DCP_Democracy, in preparation for the upcoming By-Elections in various parts of our country.”
Apology
Gachagua apologised to the organisers and Kenyans who were expecting to meet him in the remaining states, noting that those meetings have been rescheduled for early 2026.
“I am sorry to cut my trip short; my profound apologies to the organisers and Kenyans whom I was to meet,” he said. “The same has been rescheduled for early next year.”
He also thanked diaspora supporters and DCP chapters for their support and coordination.
“I thank the Kenyans in the States for the love, warmth, and hospitality they accorded to us. I salute the organisers and officials of the DCP chapters for superb planning, organisation, and meticulous coordination. You are simply the best,” Gachagua added.
He noted that he would take a few days to rest before returning home and that his itinerary would be made public.
