Police in kitengela have arrested 94 aliens of Ethiopian origin including minors who are said to be on transit to unknown countries through the porous Namanga border.
The immigrants who had been starved were unearthed on Sunday evening at an apartment within the Milimani area in Kitengela following intelligent reports of suspicious business within the isolated premise.
In a raid led by Milimani police post commanding officer Nathaniel Adika, the immigrants were found living in deplorable conditions.
The seemingly frail and hungry men were found to be semi-naked and barefooted and a majority of them could only express themselves with their local dialect.
Tens of shocked spectators turned up to get a glimpse noting that they have known the apartment as a store of goods on transit and only see containers being offloaded in the wee morning hours and late in the evening.
Unaware of where they are, they recalled being forcefully put in a cargo container and transported as goods on transit.
They claim to have been promised job opportunities in Moyale town but were later arrested by men in uniform who claim to be police officers before being transported to unknown destinations.
According to them, they were told to be under house arrest and subjected to a single meal every three days and only survived by taking rationed salty water.
Isinya sub-county police commander Ancient Kaloki says the immigrants will be taken to court before being deported to their country.
He says investigations into human smuggling have kicked in earnest to establish the cartel involved in the illegal business.
