Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman David Murathe has warned MPs against skipping a Parliamentary Group meeting scheduled for Monday.

The party official said that Jubilee MPs who will skip the event will face disciplinary action.

“In the recent past, we have witnessed a lot of disloyalty, insubordination, impunity, disobedience and direct insults to our party leader. That must come to an end,” said Murathe in a post he published on Facebook.

President Uhuru Kenyatta convened the meeting of National Assembly members for an agenda not yet disclosed to the media.

However, according to insider sources, the removal of Majority Leader Aden Duale may be on the cards.

The Garissa Town MP, a key ally of the Deputy President William Ruto, has had a target on his back having survived the purge in the previous PG meeting held at State House.

Already, Kieni MP Kanini Kega and several colleagues had 126 out of 179 Jubilee MPs sign a petition against the leadership of Duale.

The new Jubilee Coalition Secretary Amos Kimunya said that Duale should have read the signs of the times and resigned from the post instead of facing an embarrassing ouster.

Kimunya, while acknowledging Duale’s effectiveness as a Majority Leader, said that the Garissa Town MP had lost his moral authority for alleged disloyalty to the party leader.

Monday’s PG meeting will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre starting at 9 am.

During the last PG meeting on June 2, National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy Cecily Mbarire were kicked out of leadership positions.

They were replaced by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore respectively.
