Residents of a village in Garisa County are in shock after one Barisa Abubakar, a dairy village elder, reported to the police at around 1130hrs that he saw a dead body floating in Tana River within Young Muslim area.
“Officers from Iftin police station headed by the OCS proceeded to the scene and the following was established: a decomposing body of a middle age African male adult was seen floating on the river,” the police report said in part.
Officers from Iftin police station say the dead body was clothed in a vest and a shirt inscribed with the words zara.
“The hands and legs of the deceased were tied together using a sisal rope at his back and one big stone had been inserted inside the trouser and tied on to his waist from the back,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
The scene was processed by scene of crime personnel and the body retrieved and taken to PGH Morgue in Garissa for preservation awaiting identification and postmortem.
