Days after K24 Digital highlighted the plight of Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi’s alleged daughter and whom he was accused of neglecting, it has now emerged that the legislator only sent ksh7,000 to cater for the girl’s admission fee to secondary school.

According to the girl’s mother Winfred Wangui who happens to be Wamatangi’s former house girl, the money was sent through proxies but upon enquiry, they got to know that it came from the Senate Majority Whip.

But Wangui decried that the money was not enough as the girl who has earned admission to join Starehe Girls High School is required to pay school fees amounting to ksh53,554.

Wangui noted with concern that the politician has been taking her in circles and has lately not been receiving her phone calls or responding to her text messages.

With only one and a half weeks remaining for 2020 KCPE candidates to join high school, the impoverished woman said she has been left confused on how to handle their daughter’s educational needs.

“He has been using other people to reach me but has not been receiving my calls. He sent ksh7,000 using a new phone number with another name but the sender told us it came from Wamatangi,” she said.

The lawmaker is accused of sexually assaulting Wangui in 2006 in his home and as a result, he sired a girl who was born in 2007.

The girl who excelled in her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams is on the verge of failing to join secondary school as her mother has been unable to raise the required fees.

The girl who schooled at Crowns King Academy in Juja farm, Kiambu county managed to score 391 marks which translates to an A in the Primary School national exams.

A 2019 court decree issued by a Nairobi children’s court, whose copy is in our possession, had ordered Wamatangi to take care of her daughter’s education and all school-related expenses – orders that the lawmaker is accused of disregarding.

“School fees is paid termly and therefore it is not a monthly maintenance. The defendant ( Wamatangi) shall pay school fees as per the school fees structure. He shall also pay school fees related expenses,” Hon M. Murage in a section of her ruling ordered.

Further, Wamatangi had been ordered to henceforth take up the responsibility of meeting her daughter’s medical expenses and in addition, take a medical cover for the minor.
