President William Ruto‘s performance rating dropped to 46 per cent in May 2024, from 52 per cent in March 2024, according to pollster Ifotrak.
This comes despite the Kenya Kwanza administration reporting various economic deals sealed during the much-hyped US visit.
This drop was reached after the pollster sampled the opinions of 1,700 adult Kenyans drawn from the 47 counties in the eight regions.
Questions on Ruto’s performance
Kenyans rated the President based on four key issues during the polls conducted from May 23, 2024, to May 29, 2024.
Among the issues covered were the ability of the President to effectively communicate what the government was doing, competency to deliver on the assigned tasks, addressing issues affecting Kenyans and success in improving how things are done in his office.
In the survey, 48 per cent of the respondents were impressed with the communications Ruto’s administration gave concerning the government’s action plans.
However, only 44 per cent of Kenyans polled believed Ruto had changed how things were done in his office.
Similarly, some 55 per cent of Kenyans said the government failed to effectively address the issues affecting Kenyans, with the other 45 per cent expressing satisfaction with the state’s response.
Also, only 47 per cent of all Kenyans who responded to the pollster believed President Ruto has the competence to execute tasks assigned to his office.
Ruto scores D
According to Infotrak, President Ruto scored 46 per cent which is grade D.
The grading system was as follows: 1 per cent to 39 per cent is grade E, 40 per cent to 49 per cent falls under grade D and 50 per cent to 59 per cent is C.
Grade B falls between 60 and 69 per cent while 70 to 100 per cent is grade A.
During the same period under survey, other government arms equally performed poorly.
The Judiciary’s rating dropped from a strong grade B of 67 per cent in March 2024 to a D of 46 per cent in May 2024.
Equally, both houses of Parliament registered a drop in ratings from 53 per cent in March 2024 to 42 per cent during the month of May 2024.
The opposition was not left out in the survey where they registered a significant drop in ratings from 62 per cent in March 2024 to 47 per cent in May 2024.
