President William Ruto has been forced to confront someone in the crowd while launching the Kegonga water project in Migori County.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the Head of State was compelled to calm down an agitated person who wanted him to disclose his plans to develop the entire Migori County urgently and the formation of a new devolved unit in the area.

However, Ruto, who was systematically breaking down his development agenda for Kegonga was compelled to scorn the person and directed him to accord him more time.

“Ngonja na county, wacha kunikimbiza wewe. Wewe unaniharakisha umesikia mimi nina haraka ya kuenda wapi! Si anipeleke pole pole uyu jamaa. wacha maneno, county nitasema (You hold on with county issues. Stop rushing me. Who told you I am in a rush? This guy should not rush me. Everything about the county will be addressed),” Ruto stated in a quick rebuttal.

Honours demands

However, Ruto honoured the demands and immediately revealed his plans for the county. The Head of State indicated that his administration has made deliberate plans to devolve healthcare.

Ruto highlighted that plans for every village to have a trained medical officer feature in his plans for fully devolving the health function.

“That is why we have agreed with all counties to have health promoters including here in Migori. They will play a vital role in ensuring every village is well catered for in matters of healthcare,” Ruto stated while drumming support for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).

He further added that his administration has set aside close to Ksh1.6 billion for the last mile project in Migori County.

On the formation of a new county, Ruto informed the residents that the issue can only be addressed through a referendum.
