Raila and Ruto’s allied MPs adopt 6 resolutions after joint meeting
By William Muthama, August 18, 2025Members of Parliament from the Kenya Kwanza Coalition and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have adopted six key resolutions aimed at fostering national unity, legislative cooperation, and development.
The resolutions were formalised after a joint parliamentary group meeting held on Monday, August 18, 2025, in Karen, Nairobi, which brought together President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, and MPs from both sides.
Speaking in a statement published by ODM on X on Monday, August 18, 2025, MPs said, “We resolve to put aside partisan divisions and work together to advance the national interest above partisan political expediency.”
The statement further emphasised, “We commit to fostering reconciliation, dialogue, and inclusion among all Kenyans to strengthen national cohesion.”
On their role in implementing key development agendas, the MPs added, “We affirm our collective responsibility to ensure the full and timely implementation of the agreed 10-point agendas, which form the cornerstone of our joint legislative and development programme.”

The MPs stressed the importance of prioritising Kenya’s unity, peace, and stability over partisan politics. The group highlighted that the bipartisan approach will guide cooperation not only in the National Assembly but also in County Assemblies, while remaining open to all parties willing to collaborate in the broader national interest.
Commitment to the 10-point agenda
The joint group reaffirmed its responsibility to implement the 10-point agenda, focusing on economic growth, social justice, job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, governance, and youth and women empowerment.

MPs pledged to coordinate legislation, oversight, and resource allocation while intensifying efforts to fight corruption across all arms of government.
The resolutions also included active participation in national dialogue, prioritising proposals from the Committee Overseeing Implementation of the NADCO Report and the 10-Point Agenda, and organising a retreat later in the year to strengthen parliamentary harmony and streamline operations.
In conclusion, the MPs reiterated their commitment to objective leadership, stating, “Our resolve is firm and unwavering to follow through all resolutions as adopted by this joint parliamentary group meeting. All leaders are called upon to shun mere populism and show sound leadership that builds and sustains national harmony and cohesion.”
