Two quarry workers were buried alive in Koibatek as one escaped with injuries after a quarry they were working on collapsed following heavy rainfall.

Koibatek police boss Maxwell Agoro said that the quarry at Kwa Chepsat in Simotwet village, Perkera ward became a centre of attention after a loud bang was heard by locals.

“A joint combined effort of the civilians and the police managed to retrieve the bodies after several hours of excavation,” he said.

Paul Serem, Lembus Perkera Ward MCA, said that the survivor is out of danger and recuperating well at Eldama ravine Nursing home.

The police boss called on those undertaking the quarry activities to halt them in view of the ongoing rains that may put their lives in danger.

The incident happened on Monday at 2pm and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Eldama Ravine Sub County Hospital mortuary.
