Pastor among three murder suspects arrested in Busia

Two main suspects and a pastor were on Thursday September 16, 2021 arrested in connection to roberry and murder cases that have rocked Nambale town in Busia county.

The suspects were nabbed by detectives working undercover in a four-day sting operation. Detectives recovered crucial exhibits believed to be related to the crimes.

The operation was necessitated by a public outcry following an escalating crime wave in the town.

34-year-old Maviala Shisanya, 32-year-old Xavior Ojuma and the 32-year-old pastor Nicholas Mabiala were arrested in Bungoma town and transferred to Nambale Police station for further interrogation.

Assortment of goods were recovered from a house that the suspects have been using as their hideout.

“Yesterday, the suspects led detectives to their hideout where an assortment of goods stolen from robbery victims was recovered. The goods included music systems, gas cylinders, mobile phones among other valuables suspected to have been stolen,” a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations read.

Also arrested was a 24-year-old woman who was found with a 6kg gas cylinder and a music system that were believed to have been stolen property sold to her by the suspects.

The suspects are set to be arraigned in court to face robbery with violence charges.
