A passenger on Tuesday evening died aboard a bus that was travelling on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

Kibwezi police boss, Ben Changulo, said that his death was reported by fellow passengers after they checked on him following failed attempts to get him to close his window.

The passengers said that the 68-year-old man had left his window open for too long and did not respond when they asked him to close it, raising suspicions that something was amiss.

“Passengers kept on asking the deceased to close the window when they discovered that he was not moving an inch,” Changulo said.

After his body was removed from the bus and taken to a mortuary in Kibwezi, health officials from Machakos County fumigated the bus.

In the last month, three people have died while travelling on public transport with one of the incidents taking place on the same highway at Mukaa near Malili town.
