Oscar Sudi to Gachagua: Your trip to the USA was to scam Kenyans

By , July 30, 2025

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has strongly criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent trip to the United States, accusing him of attempting to con hardworking Kenyans living abroad.

Taking to X, via a recorded video on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Sudi questioned Gachagua’s true intentions during his visit to the U.S., claiming the trip was a well-organised scheme to collect money from the Kenyan diaspora under false pretences.

“Wamunyoro express, jana sasa ndio uliongea ukweli ni nini kilikupeleka USA. Kenye ilikupeleka USA ni kwenda kutapeli wakenya wenye wako usa. Especially watu wa murima, ulikuwa umeenda kuwatapeli,” Sudi said,

Translation: “Wamunyoro Express, now you’ve finally revealed the truth about your trip to the USA. You went there to scam Kenyans, especially those from the Mt Kenya region. You went to deceive our people.”

He warned Kenyans in the U.S., particularly those from Central Kenya, not to fall for what he termed as Gachagua’s tricks. Sudi called on them to protect their hard-earned money and avoid giving it to politicians who are not transparent about their motives.

“Sasa jana ndio umesema ile kazi imekupeleka huko. Hiyo ingine yote ilikuwa story. Nataka niambie hao watu wetu wa usa, watu wa murima. mnafanya kazi ngumu, msipee huyo mtapeli pesa yenu. Wacha arudi hapa nyumbani atuambie ile 2.5 billion ile ilikuwa ya ofisi yake ya serikali, ama mmuulize alipeleka wapi?”

Translation: “Our people in America work very hard, day and night, to support their families. Don’t give your money to someone who cannot account for KSh2.5 billion which was meant for his office, while in office. Let him come back home and explain where that money went,” he added.

Sudi rejects fund appeal

The outspoken MP also made reference to Gachagua’s public remarks in Baltimore, Maryland, where the Deputy President told Kenyans abroad that his Democratic Congress Party (DCP) needed support.

“Our party DCP requires resources. Whatever you can contribute is welcome. It will be put to good use so that we can push our agenda,” Gachagua had said.

However, Sudi dismissed this appeal as dishonest, claiming it was just another way to take advantage of Kenyans working overseas. He urged Gachagua to stop troubling Kenyans who are already burdened with the challenges of life abroad.

“Wee Mr Dorcus, wacha kwenda kutapeli watu wanafanya bidii sana kule Amerikani. Jana ndio ulisema ati chama we need support. Come back home tukutane hapa live live. Wacha kusumbua watu hawalali wanafanya kazi usiku na mchana wakitafutia watoto wao,” Sudi said.

Translation: “Come back home and face us directly. Stop disturbing people who are working hard to feed their families.”
