Ndegwa Njiru hints at court action over Mbeere North minipoll results
By David Nthua, November 28, 2025It is said it is not over until it is over, and to lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the court now appears to be his next destination after Leo Wamuthende humbled Newton Karish in the Mbeere North mini-poll.
Through a brief message on X on Friday, November 28, 2025, Njiru reposted an earlier statement where he questioned the credibility of the KIEMS kit records used to verify the United Democratic Alliance candidate Leo Wamuthende.
“Is Wa Muthende a registered voter? This question must be answered. We meet in court,” Njiru wrote.

According to the official results, Leo Wamuthende emerged as the winner with 15,802 votes, while Newton Karish settled for 15,308, leaving a razor-thin margin of 494 votes.
Disputed identity details
In his earlier statement issued on Thursday, November 27, 2025, Njiru pointed out what he termed as serious discrepancies in the voter verification process.
“On the KIEMS kit, the voter captured appears as Leonard Muriuki, yet the name on the printed voter slip reads Leo wa Muthende, purporting to refer to the same individual,” Njiru stated.
He further claimed that the relevant Gazette Notice does not recognise the name Leonard Muriuki, alleging it was struck off when the individual adopted the name Leo wa Muthende.
“In essence, there is no registered voter in Mbeere North by the name Leonard Muriuki, nor is there any lawful alias linking him to ‘Leo wa Muthende,’” Njiru added.

Calls for legal action
Njiru insisted that electoral integrity must be upheld. “The IEBC must rise to the moment and take immediate corrective action.
“ATTEMPTS TO SUBVERT THE RULE OF LAW AND THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE MUST BE STOPPED, NOW!” he wrote.
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina also weighed in, echoing similar sentiments.
“IEBC, we meet in court! We cannot allow your ineptitude and complicity to carry the day,” she posted.
The emerging developments suggest that the Mbeere North mini-poll results may face legal scrutiny in the coming days.
