Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has been arrested.

Taking to his social media page, the lawmaker revealed that he has been arrested at an undisclosed location and was ferried to Nairobi for questioning.

The vocal politician has not, however, revealed why he was arrested.

“I have just been arrested and taken to Nairobi,” the senator wrote on his social media page.

His alleged arrest comes weeks after Interior PS Karanja Kibicho directed the police and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) against arresting any politician at the moment until after the elections.

Kibicho said the government will not spend its resources on arresting politicians whom he accused of deliberately breaking the law so that they would be arrested in order to win sympathy votes from unsuspecting Kenyans.

“We have seen a section of politicians openly teasing the authorities and breaking the law so that they can get arrested. The Interior Ministry will not massage their egos,” the PS said in a radio interview last month.
