A Nairobi-based lawyer was on Thursday evening arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe a senior detective based at Kasarani.

The lawyer was arrested as he attempted to bribe Kasarani Sub County Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer Jackson Owino with Sh900, 000 to secure the release of five suspects.

The five suspects had been arrested in connection with electronic fraud.

Kasarani Sub County Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera, while confirming the arrest, said the lawyer is expected to be arraigned on Friday morning, August 14.

“The lawyer walked into Mr. Owino’s office with Sh900,000 in cash and attempted to bribe him to secure the release of the five suspects. He is now in our custody and will be charged in court tomorrow with bribery,” Mwongera told K24 Digital.

He said the five suspects, who were arrested on Wednesday, had conned Kenyans millions of shillings through electronic fraud.

They were presented before a Kiambu court where police officers were allowed to hold them for seven more days to complete investigations.
