Mudavadi urges protesters to observe law and rights of others during demos
By Luke Oluoch, July 18, 2025Prime Cabinet Secretary Musali Mudavadi has challenged protesters to uphold the rights of fellow citizens while engaging in their right to demonstrate and picket as enshrined in the constitution.
Speaking during an empowerment forum in Busia County on Friday, July 18, 2025, Mudavadi reminded protesters that they have a right to respect others who do not take part in the mass action.
“In a democracy, we have seen people picketing, and our constitution allows for such rights. What we want is that those who are picketing should observe the law while demonstrating. What we also ask is that those who want to go about their business, stay at home or seek medical attention be allowed to do it, please let those who are demonstrating also show respect and allow them to go on with their business,” he said.
“We also want our security agencies to protect and safeguard the life of every individual. That is the democracy we all wish for,” he said.
The PCS also weighed in on the coming 2027 presidential contest, expressing optimism that President William Ruto will once again emerge victorious.
“I want to assure you here that President William Ruto is going to win the 2027 election, and he will win through the democratic process through the popular vote,” Mudavadi said.
Doubts in IEBC
“I want to put on notice politicians, particularly those in our coalition, saying that the vote will be rigged; stop speaking nonsense. Ruto will not steal votes. He will be validly re-elected.”
He urged the leaders to stop doubting the capacity of the newly constituted IEBC to conduct a free and fair election.

“Let us stop casting doubt on the integrity of the IEBC. IEBC will conduct a free and fair election, and it will not allow stealing. President Ruto is not going to steal the votes, and he has not assigned anybody to steal the votes,” Mudavadi remarked.
Deplatform such leaders
He equally called on the president’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, to deplatform politicians who speak about rigging the 2027 polls going forward.
“To Farouk and leaders here, if anyone stands on the platform and brings the narrative that they will steal votes for the president, that person should be deplatformed because his giving the president a bad name,” Mudavadi stated.
“We don’t want this kind of nonsense; that is cheap politics. If you believe in Ruto as the leader in the Kenya-Kwanza coalition, don’t talk about Ruto stealing votes,” he charged.
