Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has castigated leaders allied to the Kenya-Kwanza regime over remarks that President William Ruto may have to rig the 2027 polls to secure re-election.

Speaking during an economic empowerment function in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, on Friday, July 18, 2025, Mudavadi exuded confidence that Ruto would win fairly in the 2027 presidential election.

“I want to assure you here that President William Ruto is going to win the 2027 election, and he will win through the democratic process through the popular vote,” Mudavadi said.

Doubts in IEBC

“I want to put on notice politicians, particularly those in our coalition, saying that the vote will be rigged; stop speaking nonsense. Ruto will not steal votes. He will be validly re-elected.”

He urged the leaders to stop doubting the capacity of the newly constituted IEBC to conduct a free and fair election.

“Let us stop casting doubt on the integrity of the IEBC. IEBC will conduct a free and fair election, and it will not allow stealing. President Ruto is not going to steal the votes, and he has not assigned anybody to steal the votes,” Mudavadi remarked.

Deplatform such leaders

He equally called on the president’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, to deplatform politicians who speak about rigging the 2027 polls going forward.

“To Farouk and leaders here, if anyone stands on the platform and brings the narrative that they will steal votes for the president, that person should be deplatformed because his giving the president a bad name,” Mudavadi stated.

“We don’t want this kind of nonsense; that is cheap politics. If you believe in Ruto as the leader in the Kenya-Kwanza coalition, don’t talk about Ruto stealing votes,” he charged.

“Talk about Ruto winning votes. This is the message we should send to our people. We are speaking childishly, yet we are before the local and international media and the media.”

This comes just days after Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Jehow said on July 12, 2025, that leaders from the North-Eastern region would do whatever it takes to ensure Ruto is re-elected in 2027.

Speaking during a public meeting in Wajir on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Jehow said, “Sisi wabunge wa North Eastern maneno ya President, tunasema ‘tutam’, hata kama hatutakua na votes tutamwibia… hio si siri.”

(Translation: “We, MPs from North Eastern, support the President. Even if we don’t have the votes, we will steal them for him… that’s no secret.”)
