The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that it is officially flagging off the posting of a new cohort of Bachelor of Science (BSc) Nursing interns on Friday, August 1, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Health, the flagship ceremony will be led by Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden B. Duale, in a move that aims to strengthen the country’s healthcare workforce and enhance service delivery across public health facilities.

The Ministry made the official announcement on Friday, 1 August 2025.

“The Ministry of Health is flagging off the posting of additional Bachelor of Science (BSc) Nursing interns in a ceremony presided over by Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden B. Duale, EGH,” MOH noted.

Worth noting that the flagship comes just a day after the Health CS revoked some of the applications by the interns.

In addition, the MOH noted that the activity follows the Ministry’s renewed commitment to uphold fairness, transparency, and equity in internship placements across the country. The decision to flag off the new batch comes after the Ministry took decisive corrective action to address anomalies identified in the initial posting process

“This follows the Ministry’s commitment to uphold fairness and transparency in internship placements, after taking corrective action to address anomalies in the initial posting,” MOH said.

Internships revoked

Notably, earlier in the week, Health CS Aden Duale revoked internship placements for at least 306 BSc Nursing pre-interns across several universities in Kenya.

According to the Ministry, the resolution came about after findings revealed that the individuals were not qualified for the posting, having not yet graduated at the time of assignment.

In a statement released on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health Aden Duale confirmed that the affected pre-interns were among the 2,098 individuals initially posted on July 1, 2025.

“Following a review of the 2,098 pre-interns posted on 1st July 2025, the Ministry has established that 306 individuals were not qualified for internship posting, as they had not yet graduated.

In addition, the Health CS acknowledged that the Ministry had duly notified all the 306 BSc Nurses through the affected Universities.

“The posting offers for these 306 BSc Nurses have been revoked, in addition to the 42 previously revoked on 21st July 2025. All affected internship centres have been duly notified,” read part of the notice.
