By Nancy Marende, October 6, 2025The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has announced that rainfall amounts are expected to decrease slightly across the country during the week of October 7 to 13, 2025
However, in a statement on Monday, October 6, 2025, the department revealed that several regions will continue to receive rainfall, particularly the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coastal region, South-eastern Lowlands, and parts of Western and North-eastern Kenya.

According to the Department’s weekly forecast, the reduction in rainfall does not signal the end of the ongoing wet conditions, but rather a brief easing of intensity in some areas.
The forecast also notes that temperature extremes are expected, with some regions recording high daytime and low nighttime temperatures.
Daytime (maximum) temperatures exceeding 30°C are likely over parts of the Coast, Northeastern, and Northwestern Kenya, while nighttime (minimum) temperatures below 10°C may be experienced in sections of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
