By David Nthua, October 31, 2025Former Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has finally shown that he is a man on a mission to occupy the house on the hill, or if you like, State House.

Matiang’i hits the ground running
The event, attended by hundreds of enthusiastic youths, focused on promoting financial inclusion and entrepreneurship among the youth.
Through his official social media handle, Matiang’i shared his reflections on the event, saying that Kenya’s young people hold the key to transforming the country’s future.
“The bold and innovative ideas our young people are putting forward to better our society give me great hope in the future of our dear nation,” he wrote.
“For too long, our nation has been plagued by endless rhetoric and very little service delivery.
“It is time to work, and I am committed to working with our youth, including Gen Z, to better our country.”

Matiang’i’s remarks were interpreted by many political observers as part of a growing strategy to connect with the youth ahead of 2027.
Jubilee Party’s endorsement of Matiang’i
His appearance in Kiambu came barely 24 hours after Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni announced that the former minister would fly the party’s flag in the next General Election.
During Thursday’s announcement, made after a National Executive Council meeting chaired by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kioni described Matiang’i as the party’s best bet to restore Jubilee’s influence within the United Opposition coalition.

“We have resolved that Matiang’i represents us at the United Opposition.
“He now carries the flag of the Jubilee Party as the presidential candidate,” Kioni said.
Matiang’i, known for his firm leadership style and reputation as a results-driven technocrat, has continued to attract attention for his comeback into active politics.

His latest engagement in Kiambu is seen as an effort to build grassroots support in Mount Kenya, a region seen as critical in the 2027 political race.
