Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi: Wamunyoro village is supporting Ruto
By Valerian Khakayi, September 7, 2025Mathira Member of Parliament (MP) Eric Wamumbi has disclosed that residents of Wamunyoro, the home village of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, are backing President William Ruto’s leadership.
Speaking in Wamunyoro, on September 6, 2025, during the launch of the water project that is expected to benefit 600 households, Wamumbi said that Wamunyoro residents remain solidly behind Ruto and his administration.
He revealed that locals had asked him to ensure the Head of State visits the area during his planned stop at the Sagana State Lodge.
“Wamunyoro people have to me that they are supporting President William Ruto, and they have asked me to make sure he visits this village when he comes to Saga state lodge,” Wamumbi disclosed.

The vocal lawmaker further dismissed claims that there are no jobs in villages across the Mount Kenya region, terming those making such statements as propaganda from those who failed when they were in office.
Elsewhere, Kenya Kwanza leaders have vowed to secure Ruto’s re-election in the next General Election, urging youth to register as voters to boost their chances.
In addition, he highlighted ongoing development efforts, noting that although Wamunyoro has struggled with a lack of water, they have distributed pipes to ensure residents are connected to clean and safe water
“When you hear people speaking on TV that there is no work in these villages of Mount Kenya, they are liars, they are people who failed when they were in offices. This village of Wamunyoro has no water, but we have distributed pipes today, and these people are going to be connected to free and clean water for their use,” he added.
The MP has also cautioned against division politics, stressing that Mount Kenya Central remains on the government’s agenda and urged the residents to urge the Kenya Kwanza administration on its project and not propaganda.

Wamumbi on opposition
Additionally, Wamumbi noted that although the former deputy president has been announcing that the opposition is united, the reality is different, citing Cleophas Malala’s opposition to the appointment of their spokesperson as proof of disunity.
“I do not think there is opposition because when you look at Kalonzo Musyoka, he cannot hold a meeting of a hundred people, he cannot mobilise a hundred and twenty people, when you look at Matiang’i, he usually does one meeting, then he rests for six months,” he added.
“The former deputy president is just announcing that the opposition is united, but you can clearly see that it is not united. Malala opposed the appointment of their spokesperson clearly; there is no opposition.”
