A middle-aged man from Kakamega Town died on Wednesday morning after he was pushed out of a moving matatu by the vehicle’s tout.

Livingston Indimuli, the vehicle’s ‘conductor’, and Simon Oteng, the matatu driver, have been arrested in connection with the death of the man, who is yet to be identified.

It is alleged that Indimuli, who works for the Western Shuttles Sacco, differed with the victim over reasons yet to be known before pushing him out of the vehicle, which was in high speed.

The victim died on the spot after hitting his head against the tarmac road.

The incident happened a few meters from the Kakamega Police Satation on the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.

Kakamega OCPD David Kabena says it could be that Indimuli and the passenger differed over fare pricing before the fatal incident occurred.

The suspects have been arrested and are being held at the Kakamega police post.

The deceased was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital.
