The chairperson of President William Ruto’s Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Protests, Makau Mutua, has hinted at possible causes that could lead to his resignation.

Mutua revealed what could lead him to resign from the noble position as the Chairperson of the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Protests and the President’s advisor on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

During an interview with a local media house, Mutua firmly stated his stand alongside his key roles in President William Ruto’s government.

He announced that he is not going to cover up any faults within the government, and in case of any, he will gladly resign.

“I am not in this government to whitewash or cover up anything, and if things happen that I am not happy with, I will resign,” Mutua firmly stated.

Makau Mutua has been defending Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo from critics after her state appointment.

In addition, Mutua, who is also Ruto’s advisor, further defended his position in government while revealing his key role in telling the truth on matters of governance.

“Because I will not be of any use to the government and the president if I cannot tell him the truth, I am here because I am able to tell the president the truth,” Mutua said.
