Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi is now a member of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party.

ANC party, led by Musalia Mudavadi, announced on Monday that the LSK boss is the new member.

“The Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has today officially joined the Party. He was received by Executive Director Margaret Ndanyi at the party headquarters in Lavington,” the ANC party announced.

His move to join ANC comes barely a week after he announced that he will be running for Westland’s parliamentary seat.

Havi took to his social media handles to say he was approached by Westlands Constituency residents to run for the seat.

The LSK boss added that he had accepted to run for the seat and exuded confidence that he will clinch the seat come 2022.

He said he is privy to the duties of a member of parliament and assured the people of Westlands Constituency that he will serve their interest once elected.

It is not clear yet whether he will compete against the current officeholder Tim Wanyonyi who has since declared interest in Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Westlands Constituency is home to high suburb areas such as Runda, Lakeview, Muthaiga, Kitisuru and Highridge, as well as slum areas like Kangemi, Githogoro, DeepSea, Mji Wa Huruma, Kaptagat, Kibagare, Ndumboini, Maasai and Suswa.

As per 2017 data, Westlands had 152,718 registered voters.
