The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has given the state seven-day ultimatum to reinstate the Sh2.8 billion cut from the Judiciary’s budgetary allocation or it will file a constitutional petition.
On Thursday, LSK President Allen Gichuhi expressed concern that the move by the Executive to reduce funding has started to cripple essential Judiciary’s operations.
“Due to the austerity measures by the government, the reduction of Judiciary budget has led to immediate suspension of mobile courts and all tribunal sittings,” said Gichuhi.
