It was celebrations and joy at little known Akoko Mixed Secondary School in Bondo as parents, teachers, students and villagers thronged the school to celebrate the good performance of Eric Owino.
Owino was on Saturday afternoon announced as the 3rd best student in sub-county schools nationally by the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.
Owino managed to score A plain of 83.71 points.
He told K24 Digital that he was shocked to hear his name mentioned among the best students.
“I was elated when I heard the CS mention my name. I didn’t expect to appear on TV but I know it’s by God’s grace,” he said.
He attributed his good performance to hard work, dedication, discipline and support from his teachers and parents.
“I am so much grateful to my teachers for the good job they have done for me. In a special way, I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart because, without them, I would not have attained A plain,” he said.
He added that his teachers believed in him and at one point one of the teachers told him that he would be among the top students nationally.
He also urged the current form fours to do their best in a bit to attain better results.
He revealed to us that he would like to pursue medicine at The University of Nairobi and hopefully become an oncologist.
