KURA addresses safety concerns over Kenyatta Avenue temporary hoarding wall

In a statement issued on July 25, 2025, via its official X account, KURA clarified that the hoarding walls are temporary installations designed to protect pedestrians and motorists from hazards during the ongoing Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong Road/Nyerere Road Interchange project.
“Following stakeholder concerns, the structures along Kenyatta Avenue are part of a temporary hoarding wall to enhance safety during ongoing works. Due to the project’s complexity, public safety is key. Kindly disregard any misleading information,” the authority stated.
KURA reassures on safety
Kenyatta Avenue, one of Nairobi’s most crucial and heavily trafficked roads, is undergoing major upgrades as part of broader efforts to modernise the city’s road network and ease traffic congestion. The hoarding walls, KURA explained, are standard safety provisions used during construction to shield the public from falling debris, dust, or machinery near the site.
The clarification comes amid growing speculation and confusion from residents, some of whom expressed concern. In its statement, KURA reassured the public that the structures are temporary and being monitored to ensure safety standards are met.
The resumption of works on this critical project was also confirmed by KURA, which announced the restart of construction at the Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue/Ngong Road/Nyerere Road Interchange, the Upper Hill–Haile Selassie Overpass, and associated road upgrades. These initiatives are part of a larger push to ease movement across Nairobi’s urban sprawl.
“We thank you for your continued patience as we transform urban mobility,” KURA posted, adding that safety remains a top priority throughout all phases of construction.
The authority urged residents to remain cautious around construction zones and to rely on official communication channels for updates, reinforcing its commitment to safety, transparency, and infrastructure excellence.
