KUCCPS reopens TVET applications, cuts application fee to Ksh500
By Nancy Marende, August 9, 2025The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) placement for the September 2025 intake.
In a statement on Saturday, August 9, 2025, KUCCPS also announced slashing the application fee from Ksh1,500 to Ksh500 to boost access and encourage more students to enrol.
The application window runs from August 8 to August 22, 2025, targeting KCSE holders from the years 2000 to 2024.
“The TVET application will run from August 8 to August 22, 2025. To enhance access and uptake, KUCCPS has reduced the TVET application fee from Ksh1,500 to Ksh500.
Applicants can apply for diploma, craft certificate, and artisan certificate programmes offered in accredited TVET institutions.
Minimum entry requirements include a C- for diploma courses, a D for craft certificates, and an E for artisan certificates. Applications are being processed online through the student portal at students.kuccps.net.
KUCCPS says the significant fee cut is intended to encourage more learners to acquire practical, hands-on technical skills for self-reliance and economic empowerment.

Upgrade programme
Further, it has also announced an opportunity for teachers with P1 or Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) certificates to upgrade their qualifications to diploma level.
“The upgrade programme is the newest student placement product by KUCCPS as it continues to expand opportunities for Kenyans to access higher education and training,” read the statement in part.
According to KUCCPS, the announcement follows the successful introduction of the Kenya School of Law’s Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) on the KUCCPS application system, which attracted over 800 applications for 500 admission vacancies this year.
KUCCPS has opened its online placement application system for interested teachers with certificate qualifications to apply for placement to the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
Further, the teachers will select their preferred Teacher Training College (TTC), which will offer the programme through a flexible training schedule starting this month or during the November-December school holidays.
To be eligible, the teachers must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
