KRA appoints Nancy Ng’etich as Commissioner in latest leadership shake-up
By Steve Ireri, September 11, 2025The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a key leadership appointment, elevating Nancy Ng’etich to the position of Commissioner for the Shared Services Department, effective Thursday, September 11, 2025.
In a statement on the same day, the Authority noted that the elevation was part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance service delivery, and drive organisational excellence.
“The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is pleased to announce key leadership appointments as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance service delivery and drive organisational excellence,” KRA’s statement read in part.

KRA noted that Ms Ng’etich, who has served as acting Commissioner for Shared Services since February 2023, played a critical role in overseeing organisational reforms, aligning human resources with KRA’s 9th Corporate Plan, and promoting technology adoption to support revenue mobilisation.
The authority highlighted that her leadership had been instrumental in implementing structural improvements that have strengthened operations across the department.
“Ms Ngétich has served as the acting Commissioner of Shared Services since February 2023, where she has overseen organisational reforms, HR alignment with KRA’s 9th Corporate Plan and promoted technology adoption to support revenue mobilisation.”

According to KRA, Ms Ng’etich’s career spans significant roles within and outside the Authority.
She previously served as Deputy Commissioner for Policy & International Affairs in the Customs & Border Control Department and as Senior Manager in Customs & Tax Advisory at Ernst & Young LLP.
KRA emphasised her contributions to customs reforms, trade facilitation, and negotiations under the African Continental Free Trade Area and East African Community customs policy.
“Previously, she was Deputy Commissioner, Policy & International Affairs in the Customs & Border Control Department at KRA, and Senior Manager, Customs & Tax Advisory at Ernst & Young LLP. She has played a pivotal role in customs reforms, trade facilitation, African Continental Free Trade Area negotiations and East African Community customs policy.”

The Authority also underlined Ms Ng’etich’s legal and professional expertise, noting that she is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, and the Kenya Institute of Management.
“Ms Ngétich is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Kenya Institute of Management.”
Other reshuffles
In a related reshuffle, KRA confirmed that Rispah Simiyu has been seconded to the National Treasury & Economic Planning, while Doreen Mbingi, Deputy Commissioner for Compliance East & South of Nairobi, will provide acting leadership of the Large & Medium Taxpayers Department pending a substantive appointment.
“CS. Rispah Simiyu (Mrs.) FCCA, EBS – Seconded to the National Treasury & Economic Planning. Ms. Doreen Mbingi, Deputy Commissioner, Compliance East & South of Nairobi, has been appointed to provide leadership for the Large & Medium Taxpayers Department in an acting capacity, pending substantive appointment,” it added.
It then congratulated both Ms Ng’etich and Ms Mbingi on their appointments, urging taxpayers and stakeholders to continue extending support and collaboration.
