The official training will take place between July and August 2025.
“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training of examiners for Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) between July and August 2025,” KNEC stated in a public notice posted on their X account on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

“Qualified examiners will thereafter be engaged by KNEC to mark KJSEA using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper.”

Pathway to examiner roles
This programme offers a valuable chance for those interested in assessment and marking to become part of KNEC’s respected network. The council has made it clear that only applicants who are shortlisted will be allowed to pay the training fee, and instructions on payment will be sent via SMS and through the official application portal.
The training is designed to be flexible. It will start online, where trainees will be guided on how to access digital materials. Later, successful participants will attend a residential session. Details of the physical training venue will be shared with those selected for this phase.
Once trained and certified, participants will be considered for KNEC’s future examiner roles. These examiners will help mark KJSEA papers based on the demand for each subject. KJSEA is administered to Grade 9 learners.
