Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has been discharged from the hospital.
The Governor had been admitted to the Nairobi Hospital a few days ago due to Covid-19.
Taking to her social media handle, the Kitui Governor expressed gratitude to the almighty God, medical doctors and all Kenyans of goodwill who wished him a quick recovery.
“I’m leaving the hospital after discharge, thanks to God for restoring my health. I also thank doctors and other medical personnel in both Kitui and Nairobi for excellent care. Thank you all for your overwhelming messages of love and wishes of quick recovery,” she tweeted.
Earlier on, a statement from Ngilu’s office had indicated that the Governor was responding well to medication and she is out of danger.
“Doctors say she is not in any foreseeable danger. She is even able to make phone calls on her own and speak freely with visitors. Thanks to everyone who sent in their messages of quick recovery and goodwill. Let us continue praying for our governor,” the statement reads.
The Governor’s battle with Covid-19 was first made public by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Governor Mutua who was speaking at a function in Ndakaini, Murang’a County on Tuesday, July 27, revealed that the governor was taken ill at the Nairobi Hospital where she was battling the deadly pandemic.
“I want to deliver greetings and apologies from my sister Governor Charity Ngilu. She is receiving COVID-19 treatment at a Nairobi hospital. She would have wished to be here with us today,” Mutua disclosed,
