Kisumu deputy speaker chased away in fist fight with ward reps

Kisumu ward representatives on Tuesday traded blows in the county assembly during bid to install a new speaker.

Tempers flared when ward representatives moved to replace Speaker Onyango Oloo, who is facing graft charges.

The warring Kisumu representatives chased away the Kisumu County Deputy Speaker Roy Samo.

After tensions eased, the ward reps eventually elected Kisumu North MCA, Elisha Oraro, the new County Assembly Speaker.

Ward reps said the decision to replace Oloo was made by the Orange Democratic Movement.
