One Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination candidate in Kisii county is writing the examination at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital ( KTRH) after she gave birth a day to the examination.

This has been confirmed by Education Principal Secretary, Dr Julius Jwan who spoke after he witnessed the opening and distribution of the exam from Kisii Central sub-county to examination centres.

The Principal Secretary said the examination started smoothly, adding that arrangements have been made to ensure that the candidate, who hails from Etago sub-county, sits her exam without hitches.

“I am happy with the process. We have an adequate number of security officers across the 698 examination centres,” Jwan said, adding that the county has presented 33,140 candidates for the examination.

The PS was flanked by Kisii county Commissioner, Allan Macharia, County Director of Education Pius Ngoma, County Teachers Service Commission Director, Jane Mwaniki.

He later led his delegation to KARI primary school in the outskirts of Kisii town where he witnessed the starting of the examination.

He said there were no incidents in the area in last year’s KCPE examination, adding that supervisors, invigilators, security officers and security officers had been briefed, adding the candidates were well prepared for the examination despite the compressed term dates due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Macharia urged the examination centre managers to be vigilant and ensure that they deliver credible examinations and urged centre managers to report any incident to relevant authorities to be addressed.
