Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has opened up on being pressured to start feuding with his boss, President William Ruto.

Speaking during the commencement of Ruto’s Mt Kenya region, Kindiki revealed that some people were questioning his mode of operations, wondering why he was acting so diplomatic.

Without mentioning names, Kindiki disclosed that he was even advised to trigger arguments and conflicts with his boss.

Which loosely translates to: “Some people started advising me, saying that I am not fighting with the president well, and you are arguing with the president,” Ruto stated.

“Since when has the job of the deputy president become fighting with the president? I’m I an opposition leader? Is arguing with the government the work of the opposition?” Kindiki posed.

Vows to rally behind Ruto

Despite receiving advice from some people to create a conflict, the second in command vowed to faithfully serve under President William Ruto.

He further told Laikipia residents that he will be ready to be held to account for all his work as Ruto’s principal assistant.

“My job is to support the president and to work under him to make sure that what he does will follow through and we deliver to the people of Kenya,” he insisted.

Gachagua never defended projects

Kindiki’s sentiments came hours after Ruto laid it bare on what led to the fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In a tell-all televised interview, Ruto accused Gachagua of failing to defend government projects.

“When I was deputy president, I went for TV interviews more than present Uhuru Kenyatta. When serving as deputy president, it’s your duty to profile government projects, did you see Rigathi on any TV station talking about government programmes? No,” he said.
