The new Jubilee Coalition Secretary Amos Kimunya has commented on the ongoing plot to eject Garissa Town MP Aden Duale from his post as the National Assembly Majority Leader.

The former Finance minister said that Duale has lost the trust and faith of the majority of Jubilee MPs in the National Assembly.

“Indeed as of today when I checked, the signatures have gone up to 216 plus. What does that tell you? The title is Leader of the Majority, not manager. One of the things the leader is expected to deliver is to bring the team together, to harness the synergies of all the members of Jubilee,” said the Kipipiri MP who was talking about the plot to oust Duale.

Kimunya said that while Duale is a good manager who is competent technically he seems to have lost the trust of Jubilee MPs.

“State House published the information based on the outcome of the Parliamentary Group meeting. The fact that his position was not offered for change means he would continue. Now, embers out there feel that is not their understanding of proceedings at State House,” said the Jubilee MP.

Since the PG meeting that spared Duale from ejection, Kieni MP Kanini Kega has been collecting signatures to prove that Duale that does not have the support of Jubilee MPs because of perceived disloyalty.

However, Duale has counter-accused the Kieni MP, claiming that he is using the ouster to extort him and his friends out of money.

Last week, a group of 15 MPs from North Eastern region thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for saving Duale’s National Assembly leadership job.

Kimunya, who was widely speculated would be picked to replace Duale as Majority Leader, on Sunday said that the Garissa MP should read the signs of the times and step aside.
