Kenya Power lists parts of 3 counties to experience blackout on July 18
By Mustafa Juma, July 17, 2025Several areas in parts of three counties will, on Friday, July 18, 2025, experience a power interruption for the better part of the day.
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), in a notice issued via social media on Thursday, July 17, listed parts of Nyeri, Homa Bay, and Nandi Counties that will remain without electricity due to the planned maintenance.
North Rift region
Parts of Nandi County will be affected during the Kenya Power scheduled maintenance. According to Kenya Power, Ndaptabwa and its adjacent areas will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
South Nyanza region
Kenya Power has also listed parts of Homa Bay County that are set to be affected, including various businesses, especially the hotels.
According to the utility firm, Staridge Hotel, Ambose Hotel, Dalawa Hotel, Tourist Hotel, Shauriyako Establishment, Makongeni Establishment, Got Rabour, Rangwena, Nyalkinyi, Got Koketch, God Bondo, Kuoyo Kochia, Olare, Nyangweso, Kadel, Kandiege, and Homa Hills will experience the blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
“Staridge Hotel, Ambose Hotel, Dalawa Hotel, Tourist Hotel, Shauriyako Est, Makongeni Est, Got Rabour, Rangwena, Nyalkinyi, Got Koketch, God Bondo, Kuoyo Kochia, Olare, Nyangweso, Kadel, Kandiege, Homa Hills & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.

Mt. Kenya region
Several parts of Nyeri County are set to experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Kenya Power says Kirichu, Kang’ong’a, Wangi Water Project, Rosa Academy, Ndurutu, Kanuna, and adjacent customers will be affected during the maintenance period.
“AREA: KIRICHU, NDURUTU. DATE: Friday, 18.07.2025 TIME: 9.00 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ. Kirichu, Kang’ong’a, Wangi Water Project, Rosa Academy, Ndurutu, Kanuna & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Kiandu and Kaiguri customers are also set to be affected.
According to Kenya Power, the blackout will hit Kiandu market and schools, Kariko, Kiandu, Nduiga, Gura, Kaiguri, Gondo, Safaricom Booster, Gachatha Coffee Factory and market, Kwa Joseph, Kariguini, Thandii, and adjacent customers.
Muti and Ngereria residents will also be affected.
“Muti Primary, Muti Secondary, Muti Market, Mukundi Market, Siranga, Ngereria Market & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
