Kenya Power lists parts of 2 counties to experience blackout on Tuesday, October 28

The company said the outage will allow for essential network maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply and reliability in the affected areas.
In a statement released Monday, October 27, 2025, evening, Kenya Power said, “Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (28th October 2025). The interruption is part of network maintenance.”
The utility firm advised customers in the mentioned areas to make necessary arrangements as technicians carry out maintenance work throughout the day.
Nairobi and Bungoma to face full-day interruptions
According to Kenya Power, the planned outage in the Nairobi region will affect the Pipeline area along Catherine Ndereba Road between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The areas listed include Scion Hospital, V Club, Joharis, Mukuru Health Centre, parts of Villafranca Estate, Kings Millennium, St. Bhakita, Takbir Distributors, Mukuru Educational Centre, Penda Medical Centre Embakasi, Bamba 70, Unique Estate, Seyani Brothers, Kenya Builders, Honey Suckle, King of Judah Ministries, Swaminarayan School, and adjacent customers.

In Bungoma County, areas set to experience power interruptions include Kimilili and Misikhu, from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm. The specific areas affected are Kimilili Slaughter, Kamusinde, Maeni, Kikwechi, Bung’aa, Kibieto, Khamulati, Nyongesa, Muricho, Ngoli, Lwanda, Chelekei, Kambimi, Lukhuna, Namawanga, Misikhu Market, Lumuli, Nasasi, Makhese, Kibingei, Kimilili Market, Kamasielo, Kapsokwony, and nearby customers.
Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and stabilise the power distribution network in different parts of the country. Such exercises are regularly carried out to enhance system performance and reduce the frequency of unplanned blackouts.
Tuesday’s maintenance exercise comes as Kenya Power continues its regular system upgrades and infrastructure inspections across the country to improve service delivery and minimise disruptions caused by ageing equipment or weather-related faults.
