Kenyan-led Multi-national Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti has successfully recaptured the highly strategic TELECO site in Kenscoff following a night-long operation.

In a statement shared by MSS spokesperson, Jack Ombaka said a specialised operations team, in coordination with the Haitian National Police (PNH), carried out an operation in Kenscoff on the night of August 24–25, 2025, to neutralise bandits who had occupied the TELECO site.

He noted that the area, located in the heights of Kenscoff and accessible via Tête Bois-Pin and Morne Tranchant, holds strategic significance because of its role in economic development and critical infrastructure.

“Report on operations carried out in Kenscoff during the night of August 24-25, 2025, aimed at neutralising the bandits occupying the Téléco site.
The area commonly known as TELECO is located in the heights of Kenscoff, accessible via Tête Bois-Pin and Morne Tranchant. Due to its location, function, and importance in terms of economic development and infrastructure for multiple sectors, Kenscoff is of strategic significance,” the statement read.

According to Ombaka, the site is particularly important both for the commune and the country because it hosts telecommunications antennas. It added that the location is even more crucial, as the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC) has equipment there that enables control of Haitian airspace.

“This site is of particular importance both for the commune and for the country, as it hosts telecommunications antennas. It is even more crucial because the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC) has equipment there that allows control of Haitian airspace.

Additionally, the spokesperson said that the highly strategic TELECO site had long been targeted by bandits, who for undisclosed reasons had attempted to seize and control it. It added that despite efforts by law enforcement, local authorities, and national leadership, the gangs had still managed to temporarily infiltrate and occupy the area.

“This highly strategic space, ladies and gentlemen, has long been the target of bandits who, for undisclosed reasons, have attempted to seize and control it. Despite the efforts already made by law enforcement, local authorities, and national leadership, these gangs had still managed to temporarily infiltrate and occupy the area,” the statement reads.
